Indian Airlines is a state owned aviation company administered by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. In February 2007, the Government of India approved to merge the Indian Airlines with Air India. In May 2007, India's Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that Air India Limited which was the India's national flag carrier and Indian Airlines Limited , the government owned domestic airline, would merge with effect from July 15, 2007. The new airline formed by the merger was to be called "Air India" It is India?s chief airlines.

Presently Air India Express flies to 14 international destinations which include Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah, Singapore, KualaLumpur, Bangkok, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Columbo and Dhaka. The domestic routes are Mumbai-Kochi, Mumbai-Kozhikode, Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Chennai, Mumbai-Nagpur, Mumbai-Pune, Nagpur-Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad-Nagpur, Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Amritsar, Delhi-Lucknow, Chennai-Hyderabad, Chennai-Thiruchirapalli, Kozhikode-Kochi, Kozhikode-Thiruvananthpuram and Kochi-Thiruvananthpuram sectors. Indian Airlines has got a fleet of 82 aircraft which consists of Airbus A319-100, Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A321-200. The capacity of these aircraft is around 180 seats.
