Hemkund Sahib Yatra

Hemkund Sahib, which is regarded as the abode of Gods by the pilgrims is located near Ghangharia. This small place has gained worldwide fame for its Lokpal Lake. Known as the most sacred place for both the Sikhs and Hindus in India, an interesting story lies behind its fame. It is believed that year's long meditation was done by the tenth guru of Sikh, Guru Govind Singh in Lokpal Lake and Hemkund Sahib, one of the sacred places for Sikhs is positioned in this very lake. Hence its holiness drives thousands of religious Sikhs every year from all over world to amalgamate in Hemkund Sahib every year.

Centering this lake a huge number tourists gather here because they believe that the water of the lake has healing effect and it can cure them from all sort of ailments. Apart from a religious hub for the Sikhs, the place is also reputed among the Hindus as one of the most sanctified places. The Hindu mythology reflects that Lord Lakshmana, after he was severely injured in a fight with Ravana's son, was brought by Hanumana in the coast of this lake for cure. Since then the place has turned to be a religious place for the pious Hindus. A Lakshman temple was built ages back in the memory of Lakshmana which is another site of attraction for the tourists. If you wish to meditate in this temple, you can perform it for hours long but only by obeying some rules.

Apart from both the sites, some other religious places those are located at or near Hemkund Sahib are Ghangharia, Valley of Flowers, Badrinath, Govind Ghat and Kagbhusandi Tal. The Valley of Flowers is an ideal place if you want to enrich your taste for nature. This national park is a place where you can see numbers of eye appealing flowers that will sooth your eyes forever. Though the journey to Hemkund Sahib is a bit toilsome, but the place is very near Ghangharia. So once you reach there you have to trek for few kilometers. You will also get nice accommodation and good foods in reasonable prices there.
